Hyper-pigmentation is very common and everyone at some point in their life will have the great benefit of experiencing it. AS IF, right!? Dark spots are no fun and they aren't very pleasant to see on your face. While the rest of your skin is glowing that dark spot is overpowering and just to confirm your thoughts of other people staring at it, we are. Not intentionally, but just like a pimple, dark spots stand out on the skin especially when the rest of your face is clear.
Dark spots can be caused by pimples and by popping a pimple. I know pimples can get annoying to see on your face but please do not pop them! That is one of the worst things you can do to a pimple. The best thing you can do is bring the puss to surface so that it can pop easier and faster on it's own. The fastest way to that is to apply a warm rag to the area in which the pimple lives (LOL) and let nature take its course.
If you do see that your dark spot(s) aren't going away quickly as you expected, there are other ways to rid of them, naturally. You can always go to a fruit market or stop and shop and purchase some lemons and let the lemon juice do the trick. It's all pretty simple but of course I will take you step by step and introduce you to a few natural remedies to rid these nasty dark spots.
-Lemons:
Roll the lemon to make it easier for you to squeeze and release the lemon juice. Juice the lemon, as thoroughly as possible, and remove the seeds. You will need to dilute the juice with water and apply daily. I would apply at night as well as in the morning to see better and quicker results but everyone's skin isn't the same so do what works best for you and your skin.
I usually take a piece of gauze, dab it into the lemon juice and place it on my face for 15-20 mins. Remove it and let the citric acid do its job.
The citric acid in the lemon is a natural exfoliator and helps promote the fading of any dark spots caused by pimples. Let me remind you that if your skin is sensitive you need to dilute this mix with water or it will begin to irritate your skin a bit. You should see results between two weeks and a month. Do not forget to moisturize your face because lemon juice can dry your skin out a bit.
-Aloe Vera:
Aloe Vera gel is very helpful in promoting the regeneration of the new skin cells while removing the dead ones. You can apply the aloe vera gel onto he pigmented area and keep it there overnight and rinse in the morning. Follow this remedy daily or until you get positive results.
You can also combine the aloe vera gel with a teaspoon of honey and make sure you mix it very well and allow it to settle. Apply the paste to the pigmentation and let sit it for twenty minutes and then rinse the area with lukewarm water. Do this once daily for two weeks and every other day until you get the desired results that you are looking for.
-Raw Potato:
Yes, I said raw potatoes. Potatoes have mild bleaching properties that can fade away acne scars. It also has starch contents that can reduce the pigmentation and enhance your natural skin. You can take a raw potato and cut thick slices out of it. Apply water to the surface of the potato and rub onto the area for about 5-10 minutes. You can do this 3-4 times a day for a month.
Another way is to juice the potato and add lemon juice (from a real lemon) and mix it very well. Apply to the area for about 15-20 minutes then rinse with lukewarm water. You can do this method twice a day for a month or until you get the results you are looking for. You can also add honey to this mix if you would like. The honey will moisturize the skin and prevent drying from the lemon juice.
-Apple Cider Vinegar:
This particular kind of vinegar is used for many different reasons. For your face, it has skin lightening properties that help restore your skin. Mix apple cider vinegar with water and apply it to the affected area and leave it on for 2-3 minutes. After you can rinse the area with lukewarm water and repeat this twice a day for a few weeks or whenever you see that the pigmented area is fading to you liking.
I may add that Retin-A is the fastest way to remove any hyper-pigmentation but it has to be prescribed by a doctor. It focuses on the skin cells and assists them to turn over quickly resulting in a faster healing process. The turning over of your skin cells just mean that your skin is peeling/scaling for fresher skin, thus fading dark spots.
Be sure to continue with your daily skin care routine to make sure that you aren't neglecting any part of your face while you are focusing on fading the pigmented areas on your face. Keep your face hydrated and moisturized.
I hope this helps you like it has helped me.
I'd be glad to hear your experience!
